Coronavirus Romania situation March 15

The coronavirus continued to have new infections confirmed today in Romania, the number of infected people up to now reaching 139, while 9 of them were declared cured, and the Romanian Government is preparing to institute a state of emergency in the country.

Here's what the authorities say.

"Until today, March 15, 139 cases of people infected with the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed in Romania. Of the 139 citizens who contacted the virus, nine are declared cured and have been discharged.

Today, 16 new cases were confirmed, as follows: 4 cases in Bucharest, 4 in Arad, 3 in Brașov, 2 in Brăila and 1 case each in Constanța, Teleorman and Iasi.

All persons newly confirmed positive for COVID-19 are either contacts of positive cases or persons in quarantine. The 16 people are between the ages of 5 and 71.

People infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus) are admitted to hospitals in Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Craiova and Constanța and are under permanent medical supervision. The general health of the patients is good, with the exception of the man admitted to the Victor Babeș hospital, who presented complications, but whose condition is improving.

On the territory of Romania, there are 2.855 people in institutionalized quarantine for whom checks are carried out to find out if they have contacted the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus). Another 14.640 people are in isolation at home and are under medical monitoring.

Up to this date, at the national level, 3.205 tests have been processed. Of these, 3.066 had a negative result, that is, the people from whom the analyzed samples were taken are not infected with COVID-19. The tests were processed in 6 health units in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Craiova and Constanța.

Until now, 36 criminal cases have been registered, under the aspect of committing the crime of thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 para. 1 Criminal Code."
