Coronavirus Romania: how many infected Romanians were not hospitalized

Coronavirus Romania, how many infected Romanians hospitalized

The first information regarding the number of Romanians confirmed as infected with the new Coronavirus, but not yet hospitalized, was published by the Ministry of Health, and we are talking about 3.680 who were only detected, and nothing more, without reaching the hospital under the supervision of doctors.

The number is very large, and we are already seeing some of the effects of this wave of people who did not arrive for treatment in hospitals, and in the next two weeks we will see more seriously the effects of this situation, at least according to Minister Nelu Tataru, and of the statements made today.

"Considering the requests received by the Strategic Communication Group regarding the evolution of confirmed cases with the new coronavirus (COVID-19), in the context generated by the decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania, published on July 2, we make the following clarifications:

Between July 2 and 20 this year, 10.393 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus were confirmed in Romania, 3.384 people were declared cured and 351 people died. At the same time, 1.396 asymptomatic people were discharged after 10 days of detection and 972 people discharged on request, tested positive for the new coronavirus.

In the same interval, an average of 4071 people were hospitalized, both in wards and in ATI, on July 2 this year 4.252 people were admitted, and on July 20 this year 4.748 people were hospitalized.

From the analysis of the reported data series, it emerges that approximately 3.680 people confirmed positive in this time interval, in the absence of legislative instruments allowing medical measures, were not hospitalized, were not discharged as asymptomatic persons after 10 days of hospitalization nor as persons discharged on request.

Also, following the analysis, it was found that approximately 1480 people confirmed with the new coronavirus are part of the category of cured people, representing cases that benefited from the provisions of the Order of the Minister of Health 487/2020 (in force from March 24 to May 21 ac) which allowed either the discharge of mild cases, or their treatment at home, without being declared cured, in the reporting system, at the end of the 14-day isolation period. In the same situation were categories of people from residential centers, people with neuro-psychiatric diseases, medical-sanitary and nursing staff. Considering the number of people considered cured, the number of cases considered active in infection with the new coronavirus will be rectified accordingly."
