Yesterday was a new day with many new cases of infection with the new Coronavirus confirmed by the authorities in Romania, based on a large number of tests, this being the trend for several weeks now, as you already know very well.
Unfortunately, in Romania, the Coronavirus pandemic remains very dangerous, with well over 1000 new cases of infection confirmed daily, with large increases in the number of people admitted to intensive care, but also in deaths.
New restrictive measures did not come with the extended state of alert due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and we do not expect others, just as other relaxations, apart from the extension of the terrace program, will not come from the authorities in our country too soon.
"Until today, August 16, on the territory of Romania, 70.461 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
32.587 patients were declared cured and 7.981 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.087 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

To date, 2.991 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.
Between 15.08.2020 (10:00) and 16.08.2020 (10:00) 37 deaths (25 men and 12 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, were recorded , Botoșani, Brașov, Buzău, Calarasi, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galati, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Olt, Prahova, Suceava, Vaslui and Ilfov.
Of these, 8 deaths were recorded in the age category 50-59 years, 10 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 11 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 8 deaths in the category over 80 years.
36 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had co-morbidities, and for one deceased patient no co-morbidities have been reported to date.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.359. Of these, 479 are hospitalized at ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 1.513.888 tests have been processed. Of these, 11.846 were performed in the last 24 hours, 6.859 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 4.987 on request.
On the territory of Romania, 9.524 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5.544 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 26.713 people are in home quarantine, and 23 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 767 calls were made to the single emergency number 112.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 1238 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 402.500 lei.
Also, yesterday, through the competent structures of the Police, a crime was detected for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 of the Criminal Code."
