Huawei announced today a update importance for the HMS system that it offers for all its phones, here it is available to users all over the world right now.
"Bucharest, September 14, 2020 – Huawei announced updates to the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem, during the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (Together) event. New capabilities available to global developers give them the support they need to bring innovation to consumers' lives.
During his speech titled "Together, Let's Play with HMS", Zhang Ping'an, President of Consumer Cloud Service, Huawei Consumer Business Group, recalled the achievements of 2020 and announced a number of 1,8 million developers registered in HMS, double from 2019.
"The HMS ecosystem is now the third largest in the world, and the HMS core has seen tremendous improvement. Thanks to the Huawei teams, we have achieved the impossible within a year.”, Zhang added.
HMS – The third largest ecosystem in the world
As of September 2020, 96.000 global applications have been integrated into HMS Core. HMS applications continue to roll out internationally, with content applications such as HUAWEI Music, HUAWEI Video, HUAWEI Themes, HUAWEI Reader and HUAWEI GameCenter at the fore in various countries and regions.
AppGallery currently hosts 73.000 apps, up from 6.000 last year, while reaching 700 million users worldwide. Local apps and services continue to be integrated daily under AppGallery's "Global + Local" strategy, providing consumers with an experience for all scenarios. Between January and August 2020, apps from AppGallery, one of the top three app stores, were shared 261 billion times.
"Global sales of HMS phones have seen rapid growth since May this year and have gained strong support from developers, partners, and especially global consumers. Thus, we invite more developers and partners to actively join us as we bring their innovations to life with our open capabilities, so that more consumers can benefit from them.” Zhang stated.
HMS introduces five core service engines
Huawei has introduced five core service engines for global developers: search, maps, payments, browser and ads.
The HMS search engine is available in over 170 countries and regions worldwide. Offering an innovative and diverse search experience across more than 20 industry verticals, apps, sports, finance and more, it is available in more than 50 languages.
The HMS map engine collected over 180 million POI information and opened up 11 capabilities, such as route planning, drag-and-drop 3D scene layout, full-scene spatial computing capabilities, and precise AR walking navigation . Currently, more than 2.000 local applications are integrated with the HMS map engine.
The HMS payment engine provides developers with global and localized mobile payment capabilities, helping them achieve success. Since HDC 2019, the number of local apps integrated with IAP services has increased by 619%.
Huawei Browser provides intelligent, accurate and high-quality web browsing services, as well as support for Quick App distribution.
HUAWEI Ads provides efficient traffic monetization services for developers for additional commercial success for those of them expanding into global markets. With over 3.100 global apps connected to HUAWEI Ads, global developers accelerate their commercial success.
HMS Core 5.0: Every innovation comes to life
HMS Core 5.0 was officially announced for global commercial use at the Huawei Developer Conference event, covering open capabilities in seven main areas: Application Services, Graphics, Media, AI, Smart Device, Security and Systems.
In terms of graphics, the Computer Graphics (CG) Kit provides open capabilities centered around GPU technology to support game developers with a high-performance rendering framework and a series of plug-ins to improve rendering efficiency on screen in gaming. By integrating this HMS Core kit, the gaming application achieved almost 11% in both increasing the average frame rate and reducing the average power consumption.
In the AI area, ML Kit provides text, speech, language, images, as well as face and body detection services to help developers build AI applications easily and efficiently. Currently, this feature is available in six languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Applications integrated in ML Kit can easily cover all platforms and devices.
Huawei has officially launched the VR audio-visual platform, providing developers with a comprehensive technical platform for an immersive and innovative audio-visual experience.
Image Kit unlocks the capability of HUAWEI themes, provides animation effects and ready-made template, allowing developers to quickly produce creative content. Before, thousands of lines of code were needed to achieve the effect, but after integration, only two or three lines of code are needed, and simple parameters are easier to set to achieve dazzling creative effects.
Through AppGallery Connect, which includes 68 services – an increase of 27 services from HDC 2019 – Huawei offers global developers a highly efficient one-stop operation service. The number of applications using AGC has increased by 90%.
Huawei Mobile Services has established 6 regional centers, 7 DigiX labs with local technology experts and operational staff to provide services to local developers and partners.
