Yesterday, a new impressive record was registered in the Corona virus pandemic in Romania, a record number of infection cases being announced by the Romanian authorities, and this in the conditions where we are asked daily to comply with the protection rules in our country.
The number of deaths and people admitted to intensive care after infection with the new Coronavirus is constantly increasing, and it is possible that the medical system will not be able to cope with the continuation of the first wave, something that we have been warned about by the authorities several times already.
Local elections will take place in Romania on Saturday and Sunday, a very difficult situation that the authorities will also face, especially due to the large number of cases of the Coronavirus at the moment, but the Minister of Health expects that in October the numbers will decrease.
"Until today, September 24, on the territory of Romania, 118.054 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
94.877 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.639 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

To date, 4.591 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.
Between 23.09.2020 (10:00) - 24.09.2020 (10:00) 41 deaths (25 men and 16 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, Bacău, Bihor, were recorded and Bucharest municipality.
Of these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 30-39 years, 2 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 8 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 11 deaths in the age category 60-69 years , 9 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 9 deaths in the over 80 age category.
38 of the recorded deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, 2 deceased patients did not present comorbidities, and for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported to date.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7.136. Of these, 506 are hospitalized at ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 2.302.828 tests have been processed. Of these, 24.278 were performed in the last 24 hours, 15.314 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 8.964 on request.
Also, since the last information provided by GCS, the results of 425 tests processed prior to the last 24 hours and transmitted until September 24 have been reported.
On the territory of Romania, 9.324 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 6.953 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 23.769 people are in home quarantine, and 179 people are in institutionalized quarantine."
