WHO: LAST-MINUTE Decision of the Director Officially Announced for ALL Countries

WHO LAST MINUTE Director's Decision Officially Announced ALL Countries

The WHO has officially announced, through the director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a last-minute decision that has an impact for all the countries of the world, and this is because we are talking about the fact that the Coronavirus pandemic is no longer considered a public health emergency of international concern, as happened in the last 3 years, as you know.

The WHO had a meeting of the emergency committee for COVID-19 yesterday, and the director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed, through the account on the Twitter social network, the decision that was officially taken for the whole world, and this despite the fact that the pandemic status has not yet been raised, the virus being considered very dangerous.

The WHO has repeatedly said that an evolution of the Coronavirus is still being observed at a global level, a new subvariant of the Omicron strain was announced the other day, called XBB.1.9, and for this reason it continues to recommend all countries to remain vigilant in what concerns the evolution of infections, even if the state of public health emergency has been raised.

WHO waited a long time after the number of new cases of infection decreased in many countries, to take this very important decision, so it remains to be seen what will happen in the end, but the decision would not have been taken, in theoretically, if there were no certainties regarding the evolution of the pandemic in the course of the following years.

"Yesterday, the #COVID19 Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I took that advice. With great hope, I declare COVID-19 over as a global health emergency.”
