Huawei: 58% of Romanians are NOT Satisfied with the Quality of their Sleep

Huawei says that 58% of Romanians are not satisfied with the quality of their sleep, which is quite interesting, but also that 68% would like a smartwatch to monitor their sleep, so they are promoting two of their own products .

"Bucharest, October 2, 2020 – Huawei Consumer Business Group announces the results obtained in the latest study, carried out by the research company Ipsos in Romania and in 10 other countries throughout Europe, regarding the quality of sleep and the measures that can be taken to its improvement. According to the study, the past few months have been stressful for people, and technology can be a good support to improve their quality of life. The newest smartwatches in the company's portfolio – HUAWEI WATCH GT 2 Pro and HUAWEI WATCH FIT – welcome users with advanced sleep quality monitoring technologies and personalized advice to improve it.

Every day, people face a high level of stress and anxiety, either from financial problems, anxiety or loneliness, and poor quality sleep has become one of the problems affecting the quality of life. Various factors can affect the duration and quality of sleep, and stress is one of them. However, this also works the other way around, with 23% of those with sleep problems noting the impact these problems have on their stress levels. At the same time, 33% noted that the high level of stress affects their quality of life.

In Romania, the increase in the level of stress in recent months was confirmed by 55% of the participants. 11% of the respondents emphasized the fact that the level of stress has increased significantly in the last period, and the remaining 44% affirmed that they noticed this change to some extent.

The most common problems faced by Romanians when it comes to sleep quality

According to the data obtained in the study, 59% of Romanians are not fully satisfied with the quality of their sleep. Whether we're talking about difficulty falling asleep in general (47%), falling asleep after waking up during the night (45%) or feeling particularly tired right after waking up (64%), about half of respondents they feel tired during the day because of the problems they have with sleep. Fortunately, nightmares (30%) and short-lived sleep cycles (23%) are not such widespread problems.

Managing sleep problems

Each person has their own ways of dealing with their sleep problems. The most common measures include a healthy diet, regular physical activity, relaxation activities, or avoiding activities that can disrupt sleep. 

About 68% of respondents try to increase the volume of physical activities during a normal day, but only 24% of them choose to carry out Yoga or meditation sessions. When it comes to nutrition, 70% of Romanians try to keep a healthy and balanced diet, and 72% of them avoid eating before going to sleep. Moreover, they are also careful about what they drink, with 74% of respondents stating that they do not drink coffee or strong tea before going to bed, and 67% do not drink alcohol. 

Maintaining a regular sleep schedule and avoiding daytime naps are also mentioned as very popular ways Romanians improve their sleep quality.

Technology comes to the defense of sleep

More than half of respondents agree that various apps or devices can help improve the quality of life (55%), while 38% believe that they also contribute to improving the quality of sleep. Additionally, when exposed to the specific idea of ​​using a smartwatch to monitor and improve sleep, over half of respondents (68%) say they agree with the technology's benefits.
