Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases on May 28, 2021

The new official number of new cases of Coronavirus announced on May 28, 2021 by the authorities confirms once again that the situation remains surprisingly good for our country, and that is why new relaxations have been implemented for all of us.

Regarding the situation in hospitals, it has become even better in recent days, the number of deaths also decreasing, so we are talking about a reduced pressure on hospitals throughout the country, where there are still hospitalized patients.

The vaccination campaign is undergoing a relaunch and an expansion at the moment, and this is because new promotional advertising spots have been announced, but also because new centers will be opened in unexpected locations, such as those for sports events .

"Until today, May 28, on the territory of Romania, 1.077.161 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

1.037.729 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 321 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 85 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 30.174 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 27.05.2021 (10:00) and 28.05.2021 (10:00) 43 deaths (29 men and 14 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, were reported by the INSP. Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Brăila, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Dolj, Galati, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Teleorman, Tulcea and the City of Bucharest.

10 of these deaths are prior to the above-mentioned interval and were entered into the database, at the request of the Ministry of Health, by the Public Health Directorates in the country, following the checks carried out.

Thus, 1 of the deaths occurred in November 2020, 1 in January 2021, 2 in March 2021 and 6 in April of this year.

Among the 43 deaths, 1 death was registered in the age category 30-39 years, 3 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 14 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 13 deaths in the age category 70- 79 years and 12 deaths in the age category over 80 years.

40 of the recorded deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, and for 3 deceased patients no comorbidities have been recorded to date.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2.659. Of these, 459 are hospitalized at ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 7.860.372 RT-PCR tests and 1.144.977 rapid antigen tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 22.600 RT-PCR tests (9.860 based on case definition and medical protocol and 12.740 on request) and 10.268 rapid antigen tests were performed.

On the territory of Romania, 7.521 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 2.968 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 34.616 people are in home quarantine, and 81 people are in institutionalized quarantine."
