The Coronavirus pandemic remains at a reduced intensity in Romania thanks to the decreasing number of cases registered every day, the situation being unexpectedly good during this period, which is encouraging news for the future.
The situation in hospitals throughout the country is still very good, the pressure disappearing almost completely, while the number of deaths continues to be very low during this period, and the very low number of new cases in recent weeks has contributed to this.
Although the vaccination campaign still needs substantial increases in the number of daily immunizations, there is hope that things will change for the better in the coming weeks, especially since wave 4 is causing increasing problems throughout Europe.
"Until today, July 17, on the territory of Romania, 1.081.588 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.
1.046.719 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 49 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 27 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 34.252 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
In the interval 16.07.2021 (10:00) – 17.07.2021 (10:00) 2 deaths (2 men) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Prahova and Olt, were reported by the INSP.
Of the 2 deaths, 1 was registered in the 50-59 age category and 1 death in the over 80 age category.
Both recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities.
No deaths are reported prior to the reference interval.
In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 240. Of these, 32 are hospitalized at ATI.
Until this date, at the national level, 8.538.978 RT-PCR tests and 1.657.934 rapid antigen tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 11.812 RT-PCR tests (4.246 based on case definition and medical protocol and 7.566 on request) and 13.223 rapid antigen tests were performed.
On the territory of Romania, 513 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 425 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 30.133 people are in home quarantine, and 430 people are in institutionalized quarantine."
