Coronavirus Romania: Increase in the Number of New Cases on July 22, 2021

Coronavirus Romania Increase in the Number of New Cases July 22, 2021

The number of new cases of Coronavirus is starting to increase in Romania, this is as clear as possible, the daily figures this week being higher than those of last week, and the authorities expect to reach 200 new daily cases at the end of this months.

For the time being, the pressure on hospitals is very reduced thanks to the small number of new cases from the previous months, but the Delta variant is starting to generate an increase in the daily number of cases, and since the vaccination rate is low in Romania, it is possible that the hospitals will be full of patients.

The vaccination campaign is still taking place at a low level because Romanians are not interested in being immunized, but as the Delta variant will bring back restrictions in the country, the daily number of vaccinations should increase throughout the country.

"Until today, July 22, on the territory of Romania, 1.081.953 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

1.047.000 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 78 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. *Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Below you have the graph made based on the reports received by the CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
