Coronavirus Romania Increase in New Cases August 5, 2021

The Corona virus pandemic continues to increase in intensity in Romania, with almost 300 new cases of infection recorded yesterday, a large increase compared to last week, and this trend is expected to continue in the next period due to the Delta variant.

The situation in hospitals is also starting to become more tense, with doctors reporting that they have to admit more and more people, especially young and old people, to ATI, and the number of people being treated is also starting to increase.

The vaccination campaign continues to stagnate in Romania, and this while the Delta version of the Coronavirus continues to generate more and more infections, unfortunately, so it remains to be seen how things will evolve in the coming weeks.

"Until today, August 5, on the territory of Romania, 1.084.226 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

1.048.215 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 244 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Below you have the graph made based on the reports received by the CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:

Until today, 34.300 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the interval 04.08.2021 (10:00) – 05.08.2021 (10:00) 2 deaths (male) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Iași and Prahova counties, were reported by the INSP.

Of these, 1 was registered in the age category 50-59 years and 1 in the age category 70-79 years, and the deceased patients had comorbidities.

We specify that a laboratory in Timiș has today for the first time sent to the DSP the number of tests performed since the beginning of the pandemic until now, approximately 11.000 tests.

This late reporting does not affect the data on the positively detected persons because the laboratory representatives filled in these data daily in coronaforms.

Also, the 244 newly positive cases reported today are the result of tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
