Valeriu Gheorghita has a new alarming announcement regarding the situation Romania is going through in the midst of wave 4 of infections with the new Coronavirus, and this is because people have stopped following the rules with the same strictness as they did until now.
Valeriu Gheorghita also says that the Delta variant is starting to become dominant in Romania, the number of sequences performed weekly showing that this variant is more and more present in our country at the moment, and this is a great concern for many.
"Considering that the Delta variant is suitable, it loves overcrowded areas by the fact that an infected person can generate from seven to nine other secondary cases, it is obvious that it spreads very easily.
In the last nine weeks, the percentage of cases caused by the delta variant of the total that were caused by viral variants of concern has increased ninefold, which is extremely important and we need this epidemiologic surveillance through sequencing.
We are at a stage from sporadic transmission to community transmission, which if we do not do something additional at this moment, to comply with prevention and vaccination measures, it is very likely that in the next period we will record an increase in the number of cases."
