Coronavirus Romania Number of New Cases Increases August 12, 2021

The number of new cases of Coronavirus continues to increase in Romania and on August 12, the authorities in our country confirmed the fact that we are talking about a new negative development for the pandemic situation, but this should not be too much of a surprise.

The situation in hospitals continues to be complicated, unfortunately, and this is because we are talking about more and more people hospitalized following infection with the new Coronavirus, even in intensive care, so it is expected that things will continue to get worse.

The vaccination campaign in Romania is evolving at the same rate known until now, so we do not see any increase in the number of people vaccinated daily, the authorities still hoping that the worsening of the situation will motivate people to immunize themselves.

"Until today, August 12, on the territory of Romania, 1.086.109 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

1.049.156 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 371 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Until today, 34.334 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 11.08.2021 (10:00) – 12.08.2021 (10:00) 3 deaths (1 man and 2 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Argeș, Constanța, were reported by the INSP and Vaslui.

Of these, 2 deaths were registered in the 60-69 age category and 1 in the over 80 age category.

2 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, and for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported to date.

No deaths are reported prior to the reference interval.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 751. Of these, 98 are hospitalized at ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 8.843.697 RT-PCR tests and 2.017.447 rapid antigenic tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 12.767 RT-PCR tests (5.320 based on case definition and medical protocol and 7.447 on request) and 15.036 rapid antigen tests were performed.

On the territory of Romania, 1.972 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 880 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 63.164 people are in home quarantine, and 76 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 451 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 701 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on August 11, 619 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 143.650 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, a criminal file was drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 23.573 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 2.543 in Italy, 16.778 in Spain, 198 in Great Britain, 129 in France, 3.124 in Germany, 95 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 37 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 5 in the USA, 8 in Sweden, 143 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 75 in Switzerland , 4 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 7 in Bulgaria, 21 in Cyprus, 4 in India, 5 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 14 in the Republic of Moldova, 3 in Montenegro, 218 in Ireland, 5 in Singapore, 5 in Tunisia, 9 in Republic of Korea, 2 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2 in Serbia, 2 in Croatia and one each in Argentina, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican City, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan , Iran, Slovenia, Russian Federation, Finland and Poland.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 193 Romanian citizens abroad, 37 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 60 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, 3 in Sweden, 5 in Ireland, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Austria, one in USA, one in Brazil, one in Republic of Congo, one in Greece, one in Iran and one in Poland, died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with infection with the new coronavirus, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine."
