Coronavirus Romania: The New Increase in the Number of New Cases on September 1, 2021

Coronavirus Romania New Increase in the Number of New Cases September 1, 2021

The number of new cases of Coronavirus is continuously increasing in Romania during this period, and last week we already saw increases of over 50% in the number of daily cases compared to the previous week, which generates great concern among the authorities.

More and more people are also admitted to hospitals, where a quarter of the people in intensive care are children, the Delta variant of the Coronavirus being much more contagious and more aggressive with young people who are not vaccinated.

The vaccination campaign is going to undergo changes to convince more Romanians to be immunized, but it remains to be seen to what extent these will increase the current figures, which are much lower than those of a few months ago.

"Until today, September 1, 1.100.208 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed on the territory of Romania.

1.055.892 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.443 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. *Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Below you have the graph made based on the reports received by the CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
