Coronavirus Romania HUGE number of infections October 12, 2021

A new large number of infections was confirmed for October 12, 2021 in Romania due to the Coronavirus, and this in the conditions that the Delta variant is spreading very quickly throughout the country and it is expected that the number will continue to increase.

The authorities expect that this week we will exceed the threshold of 20.000 new daily cases, while in hospitals the situation is extremely serious, with a very high level of occupancy and almost non-existent places in the intensive care units.

The vaccination campaign registers a very slight increase in terms of vaccinations with the first dose, greater interest being for dose 3, so it remains to be seen in which direction the immunization against the Coronavirus will go during this period.

"Until today, October 12, 1.382.531 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been registered on the territory of Romania, of which 4.205 are of re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

1.188.975 patients were declared cured.

In the last 24 hours, 16.743 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, of which 260 are re-infected patients, tested positive more than 180 days after the first infection.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Until today, 40.071 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the interval 11.10.2021 (10:00) – 12.10.2021 (10:00) 442 deaths (226 men and 216 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, were reported by the INSP. Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrita-Năsăud, Brăila, Botoşani, Braşov, Buzău, Caraş-Severin, Calarasi, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Ialomița, Iasi, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Vaslui, Vâlcea, Vrancea and the City of Bucharest.

Among the 442 deaths, 2 were registered in the age category 20-29 years, 4 in the age category 30-39 years, 20 in the age category 40-49 years, 34 in the age category 50-59 years, 112 in age category 60-69 years, 139 in the age category 70-79 years and 131 in the age category over 80 years.

410 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, 10 deceased patients had no comorbidities, and for 22 deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported to date.

No deaths are reported prior to the reference interval. In the reference interval (the last 24 hours) 442 deaths were recorded.

Of the total of 442 deceased patients, 397 were unvaccinated and 45 vaccinated. The 45 deceased vaccinated patients were aged between 49 and 91 years. 44 of the deceased vaccinated patients had comorbidities, and one had no declared comorbidities.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 17.141. Of these, 1.667 are hospitalized at ATI.

Out of the total of hospitalized patients, 467 are minors, 428 being hospitalized in wards and 39 in ATI.

Until this date, at the national level, 9.874.336 RT-PCR tests and 3.709.326 rapid antigenic tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 26.586 RT-PCR tests (14.434 based on case definition and medical protocol and 12.152 on request) and 52.959 rapid antigen tests were performed.

On the territory of Romania, 115.997 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 15.653 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 59.886 people are in home quarantine, and 251 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 11.061 calls were made to the single emergency number 112 and 797 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on October 11, 1.852 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 335.300 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 3 criminal files were drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 194 Romanian citizens abroad, 37 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 60 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, 3 in Sweden, 5 in Ireland, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Austria, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo, one in Greece, one in Iran, one in Poland and one in Bulgaria, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with infection with the new coronavirus, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine."
