The Romanian Post Announces the New Development Strategy to Increase the Quality of Services

The Romanian Post has announced a new strategy to develop and increase the quality of services for Romanian customers, together with a reorganization of the administrative apparatus, and below you have the official proposal made by the Minister of Research.

"Bucharest, May 2, 2022 – The Romanian National Post Company will start a new development and economic diversification strategy to increase the quality of services and reorganize the administrative apparatus, based on a Memorandum proposed by the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization and approved by the Government of Romania.

The development strategy provided for in the document approved at the Executive level aims to modernize the company through digitization, automation, robotization and technology (DART), with the aim of increasing the market share in the economic sector of postal services.

The implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum includes the development of an investment program for the modernization of the network of post offices and transit centers, but also the digitization and technology of the activity, through the acquisition of automated sorting lines, digital mailboxes and other IT&C equipment and programs for the modernization of the portfolio of Postal services.

In parallel with the implementation of economic measures, the document foresees the implementation of actions regarding the reorganization of the company by transforming the Central Administration from a control structure to one with a support role. Thus, the national operator of postal services aims to simplify the organizational structure, by reducing the administrative apparatus, oversized at the national level.

The support of important investment programs on various levels will aim to improve the quality of working conditions for employees, aiming to increase the mobility of employees through the purchase of new non-polluting cars and electric bicycles.

"Targeting the company's business objectives will aim to make the operational activity more efficient. Concretely, this will bring a 15% increase in the minimum wage at the company level, thus reaching higher incomes for 70% of employees. We will not forget the important aspect of the working conditions, which, through properly directed investments, will raise the quality standard, so that we can bring a different positioning of the employee to the needs of our customers", said Valentin Ștefan, the General Director of Romanian Post.

The increase in employees' incomes will have a fixed component, by increasing the minimum wage in three stages (August 2022, January 2023 and August 2023), but also a variable one, by expanding the bonus system for employees based on performance criteria.

In order to carry out the stages approved in the Memorandum, the Romanian Post will support its modernization process through a proposed budget for investments of approximately 120 million lei, a financial level that will have an important component by attracting financial lines of credit on the financial market- banking."
