EasyPay – a POS payment system developed by Apple

Last year there was talk about the fact that Apple could develop a POS (point of sale) payment system for iDevices. Practice this system will allow companies to validate payments from customers using iDevices and a special accessory developed by Apple. This accessory reads the card information, a special application in the iDevice performs the necessary operations for the payment, the customer signs on the iDevice screen confirming the payment, the iDevice prints the receipt and the process is complete. This POS type system has been used for about a month in some GAP stores in the US where employees have iPod Touches with a special accessory with a bank card reader, plus mini printers that print receipts for customers.

Notice in the image above a customer paying using this service developed by Apple especially for US retailers. The system is very useful because it greatly facilitates the work of employees to collect money or to validate payments made with bank cards and it will more than likely enjoy success among American retailers. For now, the technology is in the testing stage, it is known as ZipCheck and it is only available there, but it is promising and maybe in about 10 years it will arrive in Romania.
