   Less than a year after the launch of the Motorola Xoom, the company recently acquired by Google comes to the market with a new product which looks very interesting. The video clip above shows it and as you can see we are talking about two Android tablet models that will compete directly with Apple's iPad 2 tablet. To be honest, the tablets seem interesting, I'm not dying for their design, but what matters more is what they can do and how well the operating system moves. Android Honeycomb does not move, even so great on tablets and had few applications and those from Motorola seem to have optimized it, just, before putting it on the new tablet.

    The specifications of the Motorola Xoom 2 tablet, which is the most powerful of the 2, are:

  • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor;
  • 1 GB RAM;
  • only 8.8 mm thick;
  • 10.1 inch HD screen;
  • 5 megapixel camera plus a 1 megapixel front camera;
  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb;
  • 16 GB storage capacity.

  I'm disappointed by Motorola's decision to stay with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but that's it, they'll probably hit the wall again and release Android 4.0 Ice Cream next year. Is the Motorola Xoom 2 a true competitor to the iPad 2? Hard to say at the moment, I hope it will be and I hope it steals a good share of the market from Apple. The price of this tablet starts at $530, a bit high considering that the iPad 2 costs only $499 in the US.
