Bob Mansfield, former senior vice president of the hardware engineering division, announced a few months ago of days that he will retire from his position at Apple and retire. This week Apple announced that Bob will not take this step and that he will remain at Apple where he will answer only to Tim Cook, as he has done until now. In his place was appointed Dan Riccio, who now runs Bob's old division, so in what role will Mansfield continue?
For now, no one knows and Apple says that he is only a senior vice president, so he will probably continue to help develop the hardware of future Apple products. It is speculated that he was convinced to stay only in order not to go to an Apple competitor and the decision to keep him is very good considering that he has a lot of information about how Apple works.
