BMW presents at CES 2015 a car that can be parked with a smartwatch (Video)

La CES 2015 those of the BMW they presented new technologies for their own cars, but also a smartwatch that works with them and can park them by themselves. I talked to you a few weeks ago about the intentions of BMW si I also presented you with the unassisted side parking module also available in Romania, but today we are talking about something completely different.

In the video clip above you can see the system mounted on a BMW i3, this allowing in a first phase, avoiding obstacles while running. The system only works at low speeds and can automatically stop the car if it detects an object near you, so accidents become impossible.

Moving on, we get to the most interesting part, parking the car using a smartwatch, without actually being in it. If in the demonstration I participated in it was necessary for the driver to hold down a button in the car's console in order for it to park itself, well using a SmartWatch the driver does not have to be actually in the car for the parking to be done.

Moreover, the system can also park the car parallel to other vehicles, not just laterally, as is the case with the system presented in Romania. In the new mode, the application for the smartwatch allows you to park the car by simply pressing a button, but also to remove it from a parking spot without you having to worry.

The magic lies in a system that creates a virtual map of the environment in which the car is located, calculating the distances to the surrounding objects to find out if it fits in a certain place or not. The idea itself is great and will allow the introduction of more cars in certain parking spaces since the driver can park without actually being in the car, but for now we are decades away from such a thing.

What do you think about the new BMW system?
