Apple Watch 3 could be thinner thanks to an Apple innovation

Apple Watch 3 could be thinner thanks to some innovations by the Apple company regarding the haptic feedback system implemented in the watch. More precisely, the Apple company presents in a patent a new method to implement the vibration system of the Apple Watch directly in the bracelet of the product instead of inside the case.

With a vibrating motor implemented in the bracelet, the Apple Watch 3 would be much thinner than the current Apple Watch models sold by the Apple company. Moreover, it could provide much better feedback for notifications or phone calls received by users, and this is because the vibrating motor would be closer to the skin.

Apple describes multiple methods by which the vibrating motor could work, but regardless of the method in which it moves, the end result will be exactly the same. The implementation of the vibrating motor in the belt would allow the reproduction to a certain extent of the functionality of the Taptic Engine system, but of course everything is limited by the way Apple implements it.

Until now, no wearable manufacturer has thought of implementing a vibrating motor directly in the strap of the smart watch, but those from Apple always have more courage than others. Of course, this change could substantially increase the production price of the watch, but at least it wouldn't force users to keep only one watch bracelet.

"A system includes a band, an attachment mechanism attached to the band, and one or more haptic devices included in the attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism can attach the band to an electronic device. Additionally or alternatively, the attachment mechanism can attach the band to a wearer."

Considering that the Apple Watch is no longer successful in the market at the moment, Apple needs innovations for the Apple Watch 3. A reduction in the thickness of the Apple Watch could be the way to attract new customers to its product line, but it remains to see what Apple will do in the end.
