VisageCloud - facial recognition made in Romania

VisageCloud is a Romanian cloud platform for facial recognition dedicated to corporate clients.

VisageCloud is an online platform created in Romania that allows facial recognition of people based on the pictures provided to the online system. We are talking about a Romanian company that is behind this project launched yesterday, it being thought to work from the cloud, but also from the clients' infrastructure.

The creators of the VisageCloud platform claim that their software can be used in an extremely varied range of fields of activity. More precisely, from surveillance systems to billboards, access systems in buildings, or security systems, VisageCloud could cover many needs of those who want to implement facial recognition in their own companies.

Although we are talking about a product now sold through the VisageCloud platform, the facial recognition system is the result of 6 months of research, development and testing. Considering that facial recognition systems usually require a lot of development, those behind the VisageCloud platform admit that they are just at the beginning of the road and have very big plans for future development.

VisageCloud also comes with a new approach to facial recognition, so that storing and comparing images is not necessary for its operation. Instead, the original photo is converted into a compact signature of the face, and based on it tens of thousands of comparisons per second can be made to recognize the face, a process that ensures the privacy of the person at the same time.

The method proposed by the VisageCloud platform is faster and more efficient than competing technologies, and the data analysis speed can be increased over time. Practically, the Romanians from VisageCloud propose a solution, theoretically, better than what exists in terms of facial recognition from other companies, but also through a cloud-type platform.

"We are very satisfied with the results obtained for both easy recognition and classification. We are focused on improving and releasing new features in the near future. An example would be easy profile recognition or periocular recognition, using only the area around the eyes, more often visible and very rich in information. We are very excited to work on it.”

How successful and how many customers VisageCloud could attract is hard to say, but if the solution is as good as its founders say, then there will be interest. On the other hand, it is good to see that there are also Romanian solutions such as VisageCloud in terms of facial recognition and that Romanians have the courage to enter the market with their own products that can have a global impact.
