The Apple company started a real campaign to promote smart homes, those from Cupertino trying to show the whole world how easy life is in such a home. We are talking about homes that are controlled using gadgets that have implemented the HomeKit platform, which allows direct control from iDevices.
Apple created the HomeKit platform specifically to facilitate easy interconnection between iDevices and smart home gadgets. It needed several years of development, but now it is mature enough to be promoted, especially since there are many products that offer the possibility of being controlled directly from iDevices.
