Google Maps is the most used map system on the planet, the company Google constantly implementing new functions for its users. Among these new functions is one called Indoor, which allows the mapping of the interior of buildings to help users navigate through them more easily, Google Maps finally reaching Romania with this very useful function.
Google Maps has already mapped the interior of 3 important locations in the country, namely the Traian Vuia airport in Timisoara, plus two malls in Bucharest, Promenada and Mega Mall. In all 3 locations, users will be able to use the Google Maps Indoor system to see a map with all the stores and important areas, directly from their mobile phones, using Google Maps applications.
Google Maps directly displays indoor mapping information for all three locations when you access them using the search system. Then you will see on the left side of the Google Maps application 3 options to see the Indoor maps created for each level that the building has, selecting them will also display the shops there, plus your location inside that building.
Google Maps launched the indoor function in Romania
Google Maps will even help you get to the shops you want, or anywhere in Traian Vuia airport, using the guided navigation function it has available. The plans with the interior of the buildings are made by Google Maps in collaboration with the owners of the respective buildings, so we are talking about updated information that is available there, to help us get quickly wherever we need.
Next year, Google Maps will have detailed Indoor plans for 15 other malls that were built by the company that owns Mega Mall and Promenada. These are available throughout the territory of Romania, so that soon the inhabitants of other big cities of the country will be able to enjoy the Indoor function that Google Maps has and will be able to navigate through malls and airports much more easily.
Google Maps launched the Indoor function more than 2 years ago, and it proved to be so useful for so many people that Apple implemented it in Apple Maps. Of course, Google Maps offers the function much faster than Apple will do in Romania, and so we will be able to enjoy this system at least for some important buildings in our country, even if the process will be quite slow.
