Samsung this investigated by the Italian authorities for accusations regarding limiting the performance of own phones through updates released for the Android operating system over time. The Italian authorities started the investigation following complaints made by consumers against the Samsung company and separately from it they are also investigating the Apple company, the Americans already admitting that they are doing this.

Samsung denied today that it limits the performance of its phones through updates released for the Android operating system, announcing at the same time that it will cooperate with the authorities to clarify the situation. Italian authorities have already raided the local offices of Samsung and Apple in search of information to prove or disprove the customers' accusations, but details of their findings have not yet been released.

Samsung has never been accused of limiting the performance of its own phones through Android updates due to battery degradation, as Apple has been doing with its own iPhones since last year, but secretly, until now. To be completely honest with you, I don't think that Samsung has limited the performance of its phones due to battery degradation after at least 1 year of use, otherwise these anomalies would have been discovered by now.

"Samsung does not provide the software updates to reduce the product performance over the life cycle of the device. We will fully cooperate with the Italian Authority for Market and Competition's investigation in Italy to clarify the facts."

Samsung installs Android in its phones, and if it had limited the performance of the phones, then by now someone would have definitely discovered this and there would have been a huge scandal because of this practice. Samsung is involved in this scandal because of Apple, which limits iPhone performance arbitrarily due to the degradation of its phones' batteries, so I don't expect the investigation to prove anything contrary to the Koreans' claims.
