iPhone battery replacement program at the price of only 30 dollars, or 200 LEI in Romania, will affect the sales of Apple's mobile phones during 2018. According to American analysts, as long as the batteries are available in sufficient quantities in Apple Stores for replacement, the sales Apple phones will decrease in the coming months.
Now customers who want to replace the used battery of an old iPhone, in order to disable the performance limitation without consequences announced by Apple, must wait up to 2 months for the procedure, in some cases. Analysts believe that in certain situations some customers end up buying a new iPhone instead of waiting, but solving the problem with battery stocks will change that.
Apple has managed to halve the waiting times for replacing iPhone batteries, and things will continue on this trend in the coming weeks. This will be the big problem for the Apple company, because people will no longer want to buy a new iPhone if the old model "comes to its senses" with a new battery bought at a sufficiently low price.
"While this is great news for customers wanting to swap out their iPhone battery, the report says there could be some downsides for Apple. First, increasing replacement availability could mean fewer iPhone sales. Secondly, the average selling price for iPhones could drop."
Analysts also believe that the average selling price of the iPhone is going to decrease in the coming months as Apple is going to sell fewer new models, especially the iPhone X. Of course, these are just predictions and no one knows 100% for sure what will happen happen in the following months, but if this is indeed the case, then Apple will have a lot to lose.
