Facebook went through a real moment of sincerity today, thanks to the president Mark Zuckerberg, who confirmed the fact that iMessage is a real danger for the social network he runs. According to Zuckerberg, iMessage is more popular than Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp in the US, something that probably few people thought possible, and the advantage of those from Apple lies in the fact that their platform is integrated directly into iOS, and is not offered separately.
Facebook, with all its platforms, doesn't seem to have at least one that surpasses iMessage in the US, but not only there, but also in other important countries around the world, and Mark Zuckerberg is a bit upset because of this. The president of Facebook surprised everyone with his moment of sincerity today, and this in the conditions that until now the company he leads has not talked much about competitors and what affects their performance in various markets.
Facebook Claims that iMessage is a DANGER
Facebook says that people share more pictures, videos, and links on WhatsApp and Messenger than on social networks, so the same should happen in iMessage as well. However, in the case of Europe, Facebook still remains above iMessage, especially on the Android platform, where people do not have access to Apple's service, and are forced to use the alternatives offered by WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.
"People share more photos, videos and links on WhatsApp and Messenger than they do on social networks. We're leading in most countries, but our biggest competitor by far is iMessage and in important countries like the US where the iPhone is strong, Apple bundles iMessage as the default texting app, and it's still ahead. In countries where there's more competition between iOS and Android, like much of Europe, people tend to prefer our services."
Facebook becomes embarrassing by saying that its services are completely encrypted, and that no one can access the messages sent through them, although in reality we all know that this is not nearly so true. This is also one of the reasons why Americans prefer iMessage over Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, and those at Facebook have no way to change this, no matter how many useless functions they integrate into these applications.
