Coronavirus has already infected a person from Romania, this being officially announced last night by the Ministry of Health, she being under surveillance at the Matei Bals hospital for infectious diseases, but the Romanian Government has identified another big problem in the country.
Coronavirus started a wave of fake news that started to scare the citizens of Romania, and the Government wants to control this problem, and wants Facebook, Google, WhatsApp, and more, to be contacted so that the false information is removed from platforms.
Coronavirus has already generated a collaboration between the World Health Organization and Google for the presentation of official information about the virus in searches on Google Search, and Facebook already filters fake news published on the platform, or promoted through advertisements.
Coronavirus it is still being used by unknown people, for now, to induce panic in Romania, and the Government wants Facebook, Google, WhatsApp, and more, to react more, including in Romania, to prevent the distribution of fake news on a large scale.
"The working group on communication must get in touch with Facebook, with Google, and so that they get the possibility to notify any fake-news, because we are facing an avalanche of false information that is launched from the platforms of the most unknown times that induce panic. And here we must immediately react, notify, so that this false information disappears."
The Government of Romania did not announce measures to identify people who distribute fake news and induce panic, for now only wanting Facebook, Google and WhatsApp to remove them from their platforms, but in the case of the latter, which is extremely popular, this would be extraordinary hard.
