UPDATED: President Klaus Iohannis holds a press conference regarding the situation of the Coronavirus in Romania, and not only that.

The number of new cases of Coronavirus has set a new record today, the authorities in Romania announcing for our country a substantial increase compared to the previous days, with no less than 1.713 new cases confirmed for 26.000 tests carried out nationally.

The large increase in the number of new cases is not related to the resumption of school, but is related to the relaxations made since September 1 in Romania, i.e. the reopening of restaurants, etc., but also to the fact that mass testing of school staff has begun, plus of children.

Considering the very large number of tests that are done every day when schools start, it is expected that the daily number of infections will continue to increase, which was announced by the authorities in our country more than two weeks ago days.

"Until today, September 16, on the territory of Romania, 107.011 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

The data on the number of people declared cured is currently unavailable due to technical updates in the reporting system and the data centralization application. These data will be communicated as soon as possible, as soon as they become available.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 1.713 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.
