Coronavirus Romania Increase New Cases March 10

The Corona virus pandemic continues to grow in Romania, yesterday registering almost 5000 new cases, 1000 more than a week ago, the difference being over 25%, a huge increase that unfortunately continues.

At ATI, the occupancy level is approaching 1100 beds, something we haven't seen for a long time, and unfortunately, deaths are also reported in a very large number, the Corona virus pandemic bringing us more and more problems for the authorities in Romania.

In contrast, the vaccination campaign is accelerated, with the opening of several vaccination centers against the Coronavirus, but also with the permission of vaccination for people in the 3rd category in 8 localities in the country, waiting lists for the rest of the world to be opened on the 15 March.

Compared to the same day last week, there is an increase of approximately 300 new cases.

"Until today, March 10, on the territory of Romania, 840.116 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed. 

770.854 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 4.564 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 933 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 21.156 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 09.03.2021 (10:00) - 10.03.2021 (10:00) 100 deaths (52 men and 48 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, Arad, Argeș were reported , Bacău, Bihor, Brașov, Brăila, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galati, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vâlcea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 30-39 years, 5 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 7 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 20 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 35 deaths in the 70-79 age category and 32 deaths in the over 80 age category.

94 of the recorded deaths are of patients who presented comorbidities, 5 deceased patients did not present comorbidities, and for 1 deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported to date.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 10.190. Of these, 1.140 are hospitalized at ATI.  

Until this date, at the national level, 6.230.400 RT-PCR tests and 381.002 rapid antigen tests have been processed. In the last 24 hours, 26.627 RT-PCR tests (17.120 based on case definition and medical protocol and 9.507 on request) and 10.423 rapid antigen tests were performed.

Also, since the last information provided by the GCS, the results of 23 tests processed prior to the last 24 hours and transmitted until March 10 have been reported

On the territory of Romania, 49.076 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 13.893 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 52.142 people are in home quarantine, and 137 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 3.923 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 553 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on March 9, 4.553 contraventional sanctions, worth 877.800 lei.

Also, yesterday, through the competent structures of the Police, a criminal file was drawn up for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code."
