Coronavirus Delta Variant Dominates Most of Europe

The Delta variant of the Coronavirus is already generating many infections throughout Europe, and according to the data that have appeared so far regarding its evolution, it seems that at the beginning of August it will represent 79% of new cases on the continent, and 90% until the end of the month.

“The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control estimates: ~ 70% of new infections will be caused by the Delta variant in early August, reaching ~ 90% by the end of summer!
According to the data provided by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, the estimate of the prevalence of the Delta strain, according to the sequencing rate of the states in the EU, on July 15, 2021 is as follows:
> 90% in the UK;
> 50% in Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia, Estonia;
25 – 50% in France, Holland, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia;

Specialists' estimates
According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, it is estimated, based on mathematical modeling, that at this rate, ~70% of new infections will be caused by the Delta variant in early August, reaching ~90% by the end of summer .
The evolution of cases in the UK
According to official data, recently, an increased number of cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been registered in Great Britain.
Between April and May, the average number of cases was 2.400 new cases/day.
In June, however, 10.468 cases/day were registered, and in the last week, the peak of cases exceeded 50.000 new cases/day.
Benefits of vaccination
According to statistics, although the number of new cases/day has increased a lot, the magnitude has reached ~75% of the previous wave, infections are at ~10% compared to the previous wave, and deaths are at ~3.3% (1/30) of the wave previous.
Vaccination with the full schedule is very important.
Vaccines against COVID-19 are also effective against the Delta strain.
Vaccination in a high percentage of risk groups significantly reduces the number of hospitalizations and deaths in full swing caused by the Delta strain, even when this variant has proven to be more transmissible.
Vaccination along with compliance with non-pharmaceutical protective measures are the methods of limiting the effects of the pandemic."
