Ministry of Health: Cases in Romania with SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern

Ministry of Health Cases Romania Variants of SARS-CoV-2 Concern

The Ministry of Health published today new information on the number of new cases of SARS-CoV-2 that were detected with variants of concern following sequencing, and below you can also see how quickly the Delta variant is starting to spread.

"We eliminate concerns only by vaccination!
2.042 cases with SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOC) have been confirmed, of which 313 are with the Delta variant.
Of the 313 confirmed cases with the Delta variant, 62 (19,8%) had been vaccinated: 3 incompletely and 59 fully vaccinated (18,8% of the total).
We remind you that one of the selection criteria of the COVID-19 cases for sequencing is vaccination, so the proportion of vaccinated cases from the total number of confirmed cases with the Delta variant does not reflect the situation in the general population, but in a selected group.
Vaccination remains the best solution for protection against COVID-19!
By vaccination against COVID-19:
- the risk of infection is reduced;
- the risk of virus transmission is reduced;
– the risk of hospitalization is considerably reduced;
- the risk of death is considerably reduced.
