Ministry of Health: Vaccination at Home and in Approved Specialty Clinics

Ministry of Health Vaccination Domicile Outpatients Specialty

The Ministry of Health announced this week that vaccination at home, but also in specialized clinics, is now possible for all Romanians who are willing to be immunized, but cannot get to a vaccination center, for various reasons.

"At the request of the Ministry of Health, the Government of Romania approved in today's meeting, August 25, the ordinance regulating the vaccination against COVID-19 by family doctors at the person's home, as well as the vaccination activity in specialized outpatient clinics.
According to the normative act, for the activity of administering the vaccine against COVID-19 by family doctors at the person's home, validated as a vaccination service in the National Electronic Vaccination Register, according to the complete vaccination scheme, the rate is 60 lei/inoculation.

For the administration of the vaccine by specialist doctors in the specialized outpatient clinic for clinical specialties, including the integrated outpatient clinic of hospitals, validated as a vaccination service in the National Electronic Vaccination Register, according to the complete vaccination scheme, the rate is 40 lei/inoculation.

The rates also include the medical consultation, as well as the reporting and monitoring of post-vaccination adverse reactions.

"We have created the legal framework so that a significant number of people can be immunized by the family doctor at home. It is a measure aimed at stimulating vaccination and protecting especially elderly, immobile or less mobile people. For inoculation at home, we increased the rate by 50%, to 60 lei/inoculation, from 40 lei/inoculation while at the office, the difference intended to cover travel expenses. Also, for patients with chronic diseases, vaccination can begin in specialized outpatient clinics, precisely to better protect those people who have the highest risk of getting sick and developing complications in case of infection with SARS-CoV-2" , declared the Minister of Health, Ioana Mihăilă.

The two measures are expected to be in force until March 31, 2022, until which time the activity of administering the vaccine by family doctors in their own offices for people registered on their own list was also extended, for those who do not have a family doctor or for whom the family doctor does not provide these services."
