Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases May 3, 2022

The coronavirus remains very present all over the world, many countries are still facing large numbers of cases registered among the communities, which shows us how big the problem still remains in terms of the spread of the Omicron variant, which is much more contagious.

The coronavirus continues to spread even in Romania during this period, and this is because the Omicron variant is still present in the communities of our country, even if the actual number of new cases remains low, which is excellent news for all those who were waiting return to normality.

The coronavirus will not disappear from Europe in the coming months, and over the summer it will continue to generate infections in various regions of the continent, but of course vigilance is in the first place, people being advised to keep the preventive measures that have been imposed so far.

"In the last 24 hours, 1116 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, 588 more than the previous day. 135 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized.

**As for cases from abroad, these are cases of citizens who came to Romania having been infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total of new cases not allocated by county.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 108 people were reconfirmed positive.

In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 1.187, 55 less than the previous day. Also, 193 people are hospitalized at ATI, 2 more than the previous day. Of the 193 patients admitted to ATI, 169 are unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of admitted patients, 79 are minors, all of them admitted to wards, 2 more than the previous day. No minor is hospitalized at ATI.

DEATHS

Until today, 65.510 people diagnosed with SarsCov-2 infection have died.

Between 02.05.2022 (10:00) and 03.05.2022 (10:00) 14 deaths (10 men and 4 women) were reported by the INSP, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.

Of the 14 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category 40-49 years, 2 in the age category 60-69 years, 6 in the age category 70-79 years and 5 in the age category over 80 years .

All registered deaths are of patients who had comorbidities.

Of the total of 14 deceased patients, 9 were unvaccinated and 5 vaccinated. 1 of the vaccinated patients who died was 40-49 years old, 1 was 60-69 years old, and 3 were 70-79 years old.

tESTING

In the last 24 hours, 7.438 RT-PCR tests (4.008 based on case definition and medical protocol and 3.430 on request) and 16.954 rapid antigen tests were performed. Until this date, at the national level, 12.995.420 RT-PCR tests and 9.754.736 rapid antigen tests have been processed."
