War in Ukraine Day 515 Counteroffensive on 3 Sectors Against the Russian Army

Ukraine's counter-offensive in the war against Russia continues on at least 3 sectors of the front, at the end of July, and this is because the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army announces that the attacks against the occupiers continue in the Zaporozhye region, with the same force as until now.

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations on at least three sectors of the front on 22 July. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces carried out counteroffensive operations in the directions of Berdyansk (Zaporizhia-Donetsk area) and Melitopol (western Zaporizhia Oblast).

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD) claimed that Russian forces repelled 14 Ukrainian attacks south of Kreminna, Luhansk region and in the Bakhmut area.[2] The Ukrainian General Staff did not issue a situation report on its counteroffensive operations on July 22.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian counter-offensive operations could soon pick up the pace and that the delay in counter-offensive operations was partly due to limited materiel. Zelensky told the Aspen Security Forum on July 21 that Ukrainian forces planned to launch counter-offensive operations in the spring, but that a lack of ammunition and military equipment, such as demining equipment, and Ukraine's continued training abroad necessitated a delay .

Zelensky noted that the delay in Ukrainian counteroffensive operations allowed Russian forces to establish minefields and several defensive lines.

ISW assessed in January 2023 that the supply of Western weapons and materiel to Ukraine was critical to Ukraine's previous ability to conduct successful counteroffensive operations, and that delays between Western commitments to send state-of-the-art Western systems to Ukraine and the arrival of those systems likely impede Ukraine's ability to initiate and sustain large-scale operations.

Zelensky said counteroffensive operations may soon increase due to ongoing demining operations. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on July 21 at the Aspen Security Forum that it was too early to draw conclusions about Ukrainian counteroffensive operations and that Ukraine would likely "make a profound difference" on the battlefield, on as Kiev engages all the forces Ukraine has prepared for the counteroffensive.
