In 2004, Steve Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a relentless disease for some but treatable in Jobs's case. According to Walter Isaacson, Steve Jobs had a rare form of cancer, found in only 5% of patients, which could be treated by doctors through an operation and a treatment available at that time. Unfortunately, Steve Jobs chose to follow the path of alternative medicine, so he postponed the operation for 9 months and when it was finally decided to operate, the doctors found out that the tumor on the pancreas had spread even to other organs in his body.

Basically, Steve Jobs was suffering from a terrible disease that could be treated at that time if he had agreed to do the operation when his doctors told him to do it. Jobs had a malignant tumor in his pancreas that could be removed by doctors and he would have survived even today, but Jobs' trust in alternative medicine would bring him the end, something he acknowledged in the weeks before his death. Steve Jobs told Isaacson that he regretted the decision made in 2004 and if he could turn back time, he would have done the operation that would have saved his life.
