In 2018, the average internet browsing speed reached 9.1 Mbps, compared to 7.4 Mbps, as it was in 2017, the percentage increase being very high, although in reality the speed is very low.
Romania is one of the countries with the fastest internet speeds, offering average speeds of 38 Mbps, according to the authors of a study that covers all countries around the globe. According to them, Romania ranks 6th in the list of countries with the fastest internet globally, after others with more developed infrastructures, such as: Singapore, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Romania recorded a very high increase in the average internet browsing speed, from 21.33 Mbps in 2017 to 38.6 Mbps in 2018, the increase being much higher than the global average. All telecom operators in Romania contributed to this growth, making serious investments in the infrastructure to be able to offer their clients the best internet speeds.
For several years, Romania has been in the top of the countries with the fastest internet in the world, which is also much cheaper compared to what is perceived in other areas of the globe. Basically, thanks to fiber optic connections, we have reached a point where we have faster internet than most of the computers that people own, and this is a very good thing.
