The Romanian authorities issued today a very important warning regarding the Samsung GALAXY S10, or iPhone XS, here's what they had to say for the Romanians.

Romania seems to have become a favorite target of those who want to harm ordinary people who do not have much technical knowledge, but the authorities are constantly trying to protect us from those who want to harm us. Today we are talking about a new warning from CERT-RO regarding the Romanian Posta National Company, the Posta's image being used in a new scam attack that aims to steal the data of citizens with mobile phones.

CERT-RO is a government agency designed to detect cyber attacks in Romania, including those against state institutions, but to notify citizens of those that directly target them. Regarding the warning for the Romanian Post, it is about a scam campaign in which Romanians are told that they can receive a Samsung GALAXY S10, iPhone XS, or iPad Air 2 if they participate in a simple opinion survey conducted by "Posta ".

In reality, Romanian citizens do nothing but answer a series of questions by which they give up some of their personal data, which instead could be used to steal social media accounts, or possibly for financial attacks. To make things even more believable, the scammers use a fake picture of a person from Romania who says he won a Samsung GALAXY S10 after participating in that opt-in survey, but you shouldn't be fooled.

New #scam attack targeting customers who use services from Compania Nationala Posta Romana. The link is currently inactive, but this campaign may be replicated on other compromised sites. Keep in mind that such promotions are usually present exclusively on the official channels of the companies.

CERT-RO received alerts from various Romanian citizens regarding the scam attack in which the Romanian National Post Company is once again involved, an identical situation having been encountered a few months ago. Then the scammers tried to trick the Romanians with Samsung GALAXY S10 or iPhone XS phones, and they were probably successful, since they decided to repeat the scheme using exactly the same models of smartphones, which are very popular, by the way.
