NASA issued a new extremely serious alert for an asteroid that is approaching the Earth at a very high speed at the moment, its large dimensions being the ones that motivated its issuance. According to those from NASA, this asteroid has the name 2006 SF6, a diameter of approximately 609 meters, and is heading at a speed of several tens of thousands of kilometers per hour, so if it were to hit the Earth, it would cause serious damage.
NASA says that this asteroid will reach 2.7 million kilometers from Earth during this month, and although we are talking about a great distance, it is still worrying enough to be issued an alert. November 20 is the day when NASA says that the asteroid will reach its closest distance to Earth, so that all those interested will be able to see it then, especially since we are talking about a considerable size for it.

NASA has been following this asteroid for over 1 decade, so it knows very well what is going to happen in its journey near the Earth, so the alert it makes comes because of a serious concern. Despite the fact that asteroid 2006 SF6 reaches a distance of 2.7 million from Earth, like many others, it is part of a select category of asteroids that have very large dimensions.
NASA constantly issues alerts for asteroids approaching Earth, but very large ones are generally seen as very dangerous, even if they reach very large distances from Earth. Those from NASA are currently monitoring an extremely large number of asteroids, and according to their data, the first large one that has a chance of hitting the Earth is currently about 8 years away from our planet.
Until then, NASA is preparing a planetary defense system to protect us from any kind of danger, it will be tested somewhere in 2022 or 2023, so still quite far away.
