Romanian Government: The 12 MILLION Euro Website that DOESN'T Work

government website 12 million euros

The Government of Romania paid 12 million euros for the creation of one of the most expensive websites in the world which is currently not working, according to Clotilde Armand, who is going to be the candidate of USR PLUS at the Mayor of Sector 1 in Bucharest.

According to it, the Government of Romania spent 12 million euros for a website with the domain name portaleromania.ro, and it should have contained information about 3188 localities in Romania.

At the moment, the portal does not even have a server assigned, the domain name cannot be resolved, so it is not attached to anything, and also according to the USR member, the Romanian Government would have paid 800.000 LEi for its maintenance in the last 5 years.

The Romanian government has many projects under development, especially on the IT side, but how real is the amount of 12 million euros mentioned by Clotilde Armand is hard to say for now, but maybe clarifications will come.

The portal project was initiated in 2010, and it worked for several years, but in 2017 it was unavailable for the first time for a long period of time, and since 2018 the problems have continued with it.

Then the Minister of Communications said that the world was not interested in him, probably because he was not properly promoted, but even so, 12 million euros were invested in a good idea, which disappeared.
