Coronavirus Romania New Cases Cured January 5

The Coronavirus pandemic continues worldwide, including in Romania, the positivity rates being higher in our country, and from today, the rapid antigen tests performed in hospitals will be included in the daily reports, so not only the RT-PCR ones.

We see every day the fact that more and more people die after being infected with the new Coronavirus, but also that the number of people admitted to ATI remains high, which represents one of the biggest problems at the moment for our country.

Considering the changes made by the authorities in Romania regarding the way in which the testing for the Coronavirus is done, it is possible that the number of cases will increase, as well as the positives, but everything will become clearer in the course of the following days.

"Until today, January 5, on the territory of Romania, 648.288 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed.

581.856 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, 4.729 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, these being cases that have not previously had a positive test. The distribution of total cases and new cases by county can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the "new cases not allocated by county", we specify that their number is determined by the changes made to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the test centers directly enter the results of the tests carried out, following which the epidemiological investigation is carried out at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases are assigned to the county/locality to which the infected persons belong.

The coefficient of cumulative infections per 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Directorates of Public Health, at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest and the counties. Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 793 people were reconfirmed positive. The distribution of these cases by county can be found in the table below.

Until today, 16.178 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 04.01.2021 (10:00) and 05.01.2021 (10:00) 121 deaths (70 men and 51 women) of patients infected with the new coronavirus, admitted to hospitals in Alba, Arad, Argeș, were reported , Bacău, Bihor, Bistrita-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galati, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, VâlceaVrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 3 deaths were registered in the age category 40-49 years, 15 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 31 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 32 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 40 deaths in the over 80 category.

117 of the recorded deaths are of patients who had comorbidities, for 2 deceased patients no comorbidities were recorded, and for 2 deceased patients no comorbidities were reported to date.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.028. Of these, 1.086 are hospitalized at ATI.

Up to this date, at the national level, 4.868.383 tests have been processed. Of these, 31.022 were performed in the last 24 hours, 18.458 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 12.564 on request.

On the territory of Romania, 26.620 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 8.671 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 40.493 people are in home quarantine, and 47 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

 

In the last 24 hours, 4.201 calls were made to the single emergency number 112 and 1.568 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on January 4, 4.522 contraventional sanctions, in the amount of 873.505 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 2 criminal files were drawn up yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 Criminal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs operationalized, starting on 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection rules can be reported.

The calls are taken by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for verification of the reported aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, 7.107 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus): 1.939 in Italy, 1.322 in Spain, 173 in Great Britain, 125 in France, 3.085 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 7 in Sweden, 131 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 17 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in the Republic of Moldova, 3 in Montenegro, 6 in Ireland and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican City, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran and Russian Federation. From the beginning of the epidemic of COVID-19 (coronavirus) until this moment, 131 Romanian citizens abroad, 33 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, 3 in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the US, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo, one in Greece and one in Iran have died."
