We were promised a solution for the Silent button problems of our terminals and here is that the Dev Team released today redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 and PwnageTool 4.3.3.1. This new version of redsn0w solves the problem by simply restoring the jailbreak and I think that if you have a jailbreak with a custom ipsw made with PwnageTool you can run redsn0w over it and everything is solved. The Dev Team also managed to solve the compatibility problems of redsn0w with Windows 7 and Vista, but you will have to run the program in compatibility mode with XP. For the iPhone 3GS, the problem with verbose mode that can be set to appear at boot has been solved.
The new version of redsn0w is also compatible with ultrasn0w from now on, so everything will work without problems. That's all new for today, you can download redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 from here : [download id=”130, 131″]
PwnageTool 4.3.3.1 by here. Jailbreak tutorial for redsn0w you have here, jailbreak tutorial for PwnageTool you have here.
Has anyone tested it? Does it really fix the silent button problem?
Can it run over jb with redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15?
What does the article say?
it can be run over RC15... should it vibrate when I push the button down to switch it to silent? or when I press the up button to come back so that it is no longer on silent? ... because I no longer know how the button was supposed to work normally :)) ... for me it only vibrates when I switch it to silent after I re-jailbroken with RC16
I redid it now and it really works. only that I don't have anything in packages in cydia anymore, the applications I had installed from there have not disappeared
I also did it on 3Gs and it works without any problem. Does it seem to me or does 4.3.3 consume more battery?
and it seems the same to me
@Stupar Dan app from the Appstore or Installous disappeared?
When I put rc16 over rc15, do I check again to install cydia?
I have never had problems with the silent button on the iPhone 4
Does it still need to be checked to install Cydia, if I only restore the jailbreak for the silent button?
@Marian I don't need to redo it myself.... select only multitouch gestures if you want...
@ football_player: cydia was deleted from but they remained installed, only that they were no longer there to be able to delete them or I don't know what....
I also have 2 questions:
1. If I have iPhone 4.3.1 with jailbreak, how do I update to 4.3.3 from iTunes with UPDATE or RESTORE (how did you do it)?
2. After update/restore I know that the jailbreak goes with Cydia and all apps from Cydia, but apps from Appstore or Installous are deleted?
Thank you for the response.
I ran over redsn0w RC15 and it works perfectly. It keeps everything, including Cydia, except that the "Install Cydia" option no longer needs to be ticked.
@george: No.
@Marian: No.
@football_player: Restore is indicated. Yes, after restore yes.
@Zaone: Yes, it is written in the article, but also in redsn0w 0.9.6 RC10-11 it was written in the article to solve the pb of the silent button, but it turned out later that they did not solve the problem, that's why I asked if anyone had tested it. I redid the jb without checking cydia and the pb of the button was not solved. I had to redo the restore and then jb with redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 to solve the pb of the silent button.
I redid the jail with redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 over redsn0w 0.9.6 RC15 (I didn't tick, activated anything, i4 orange) and the button works normally, thanks zaone/idevice!
[…] redsn0w 0.9.6 RC16 was released today by the Dev Team to solve the problems with the silent button functionality but using this jailbreak solution could bring another benefit. i0n1c, the one who made the untethered exploit for iOS 4.3.3, says that redsn0w 0.9.6 R16 could improve battery life after jailbreak. He says that the first version of redsn0w for iOS 4.3.3 had a problem with process prioritization, but he managed to fix it in the new exploit, so theoretically we should notice an improvement in battery life.
