The authorities in Romania have decided to apply the quarantine measure including for a city in Romania, this being the first in which such a decision is taken, but not singularly, but together with three other villages around it, and this because of the uncontrolled growth of cases of coronavirus infections.

According to the authorities, the city of Faget is quarantined together with the villages of Bichigi, Temeresti and Colonia Mica, in all of which the citizens have movement restrictions only for the emergencies they have to solve, to buy food and medicine, or to go to the work.

The Romanian government and the head of the DSU, Raed Arafat, have repeatedly warned that regional quarantines will be imposed when things get out of control, especially in the mountains and at sea, where there are currently no such intentions.

"Considering the epidemiological situation generated by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, existing in the city of Făget and the villages belonging to it, where a number of 47 people tested positive and a large number of people who came into direct contact with tested people were identified positively and taking into account the proposal of the Directorate of Public Health Timiș and the opinion of the National Institute of Public Health - National Center for Surveillance and Combating Diseases, the County Committee for Emergency Situations Timiș, led by prefect Liliana Oneț, decided, this morning, by vote, the establishment of zonal quarantine in the city of Făget and the villages belonging to Bichigi, Temerești and Colonia Mică in Timiș county. The quarantine will be established for a period of 14 days.

The decision was sent to the National Committee for Emergency Situations and, also today, the Order of the Head of the Department for Emergency Situations No. 4659206/ 26.07.2020 which decided to establish the zonal quarantine for the city of Făget and the villages belonging to Bichigi, Temerești and Colonia Mică, starting today, July 26, at 19 p.m.

According to the legal provisions in force, entry and exit are allowed in the quarantined locality for:

a) freight transport, regardless of its nature, of raw materials and resources necessary for carrying out economic activities in the quarantined locality, as well as supplying the population;
b) persons who do not live in the quarantined area, but who carry out economic activities or in the field of defense, public order, national security, health, emergency situations, local public administration, social assistance and protection, judicial, public utility services, energy, agriculture, public food, water supply, communications and transport; people taking college entrance exams
c) persons who live in the quarantined area and carry out professional activity outside the quarantined area with the presentation of a certificate from the employer, service card or any other document certifying the professional activity;
d) persons who carry out agricultural activities or for the sale of agri-food products;
e) moving for other justified reasons, such as caring for/accompanying children/family members, caring for a relative/relative or dependent, assisting the elderly, sick or disabled, the death of a family member;
f) travel for medical assistance that cannot be postponed or carried out remotely;
g) medical emergencies.

At the same time, the Timiș County Committee for Emergency Situations decided that the mayor and the Local Council of Făget are empowered to take measures to ensure the functioning of protection and social assistance services, the proper functioning of public utility services, as well as the supply of basic food for people without supporters or other forms of help and who cannot move from their home/household.
According to the CJSU Decision, it is prohibited to enter/exit the city of Făget and the villages belonging to Bichigi, Temerești and Colonia Mică, Timiș County through areas and access roads other than those open to public traffic on European, national, county and communal roads.
