iOS 8 a fost lansat de catre compania Apple fara suport pentru sistemul HealthKit, compania promitand ca va rezolva problema cu iOS 8.0.1, insa a reusit sa faca mai mult rau lansand aceasta versiune a sistemului de operare. iOS 8.0.2 a venit si compania Apple a rezolvat problemele cauzate de iOS 8.0.1, permitand in acelasi timp dezvoltatorilor de aplicatii sa lanseze in App Store titluri care au integrat sistemul HealthKit, primele dintre ele fiind deja disponibile.
Folosind aceste aplicatii putem monitoriza o varietate de informatii biometrice si le putem transmite catre aplicatia integrata Health/Sanatate disponibila in iOS 8 pentru iDevice-urile noastre. Apple vrea ca iOS 8 Health/Sanatate sa fie un hub integrat de informatii despre starea noastra de sanatate si nu numai, iar preluarea de informatii separate din multiple aplicatii cu functionalitate dedicata ne ajuta sa aflam tot ceea ce avem nevoie dintr-un singur loc, fara a prelua informatii partiale din fiecare aplicatie in parte.
In momentul de fata urmataorele aplicatii ale App Store au implementat suport pentru iOS 8 HealthKit.
