Romanian Government: Closing Shops Earlier Has Good Results

Romanian Government Closing Shops Early Results

The Government of Romania, through the voice of the Prime Minister, Florin Citu, tells us that closing the shops earlier gives the results that the governors expect, and this can be seen in a decrease in the number of new cases in the areas heavily affected by the pandemic.

The Romanian government says it is discussing with the big retailers to see what kind of impact this decision to reduce shopping hours has on the crowds, but for now it is unlikely to make changes where the measure also leads to a decrease in infection rates.

"I saw the situation of the economy in Romania if we did nothing. We saw how the number of infected people increased from 2.000 per day to 6.000 in just a few days. Specialist studies tell us that mobility is the factor by which the virus spreads the most and the first measure taken by all the countries in the European Union was to reduce mobility. We see that after taking this measure we have a plateau, even a decrease in the positivity rate, this means that there was some impact"
