Government of Romania: The COVID passport could be used in the country

Government of Romania Passport COVID restrictions

The Romanian government is discussing the possible use of the COVID passport including in Romania, although it has been repeatedly said in the past that this measure will not be taken in the case of our country, but things could be completely different in the future.

The Romanian government is discussing these measures in the governing coalition, and the Minister of Health, Ioana Mihaila, revealed them, so it is possible that in the coming weeks we will clearly find out what kind of new restrictive measures will be imposed in our country.

"At the moment, the scenarios being discussed are more related to the covid passport, i.e. the one that certifies vaccination, testing or passing through the disease, and we are working together with the DSU on a legislative amendment through which this covid passport can also be used in inside the country, so as to create the legal basis for the verification of this covid passport. Exactly where and how we will implement these preventive measures will depend on the evolution of the pandemic, but we must be prepared.

Depending on the evolution of the pandemic, let's decide which spaces will require, in order to have access to them, the covid passport and which activities. Obviously there are certain activities with a higher risk, such as restaurants, discos, bars, and there are activities with a lower risk, such as theaters, perhaps where there is not necessarily a very large crowd."
