Romanian Government: Mask Remains Mandatory in Schools for Courses

The Government of Romania announced today, through the Minister of Health, that in schools in Romania it is still mandatory to wear protective masks for children who are older than 6 years, so nothing changes from this point of view compared to the school year previous.

However, the Romanian government says that it will not be mandatory to wear a protective mask in schoolyards, and for sports classes it is recommended that they take place outside, but if they take place inside, the decision regarding wearing a protective mask will be made depending on incidence rate.

"Also, we must bear in mind that we must offer these children who go to school a safe environment and the continuation of certain protective measures, so that the transmission at this age remains as low as possible. For this reason, wearing a mask in school will continue to be mandatory for children over six years old, but wearing a mask in open spaces will no longer be considered mandatory.

Also, for sports activities, they will mainly be encouraged to take place in open spaces, and for sports activities in closed spaces, it will be decided depending on the incidence in the respective community, whether they can take place in closed spaces or not, carrying out this activity without a mask.

About vaccination in schools, we continue to have technical discussions with the National Committee for the Organization of Vaccination Activities and adapt the scenarios according to the particularities of each community and each school, with the final decision to be communicated to you as soon as possible."
