The Government of Romania: The Importance of Vaccination and Compliance with Preventive Measures

The Government of Romania The Importance of Vaccination Compliance with Preventive Measures

The Government of Romania conveys through the CNCAV the importance of vaccination but also of respecting the preventive measures against the spread of the Coronavirus, and the USA and Portugal are given as examples, two countries where the pandemic has generated many cases of infection.

The Romanian government shows us what a very important role vaccination and the observance of preventive measures played there in reducing the impact of the 4th wave of infections, but we are talking about vaccination rates at least almost double compared to the one in Romania.

"Vaccination in high percentage, together with non-pharmaceutical preventive measures are the resources to fight the COVID-19 pandemic!
In both states the Delta variant became predominant.
Portugal started wave 4 earlier than USA. At that time vaccination coverage in Portugal was 30% fully vaccinated and 49% with one dose. Shortly after the sharp increase in the number of new cases began, in addition to accelerating the vaccination campaign, Portugal reintroduced some of the non-pharmaceutical safety measures.
The situation at the moment
US:
• Vaccination coverage: 52% vaccinated with full schedule plus another 9,3% with 1 dose (61%)
•No. of new cases: the magnitude of wave 4 is at 60% of the peak of wave 3
• ATI admissions reached 88% compared to wave 3
•No. deaths reached 30% of wave 3
Portugal:
• Vaccination coverage: 75% vaccinated with full schedule plus another 10% with 1 dose (85%)
•No. of new cases: the magnitude of wave 4 was 25% of the peak of wave 3
•No. ATI admissions reached 22% of the peak of wave 3
•No. deaths reached 5% of the peak of wave 3
In conclusion, the Delta variant is more transmissible and more dangerous than the previous variants.
The most effective resources in combating the effects of the pandemic remain vaccines together with non-pharmaceutical measures, and a large percentage of the immunized population is required."
