RCS & RDS promise

RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Telekom, Orange, are affected by a very important change that was officially announced yesterday, which will have an impact on all the operators' customers. More precisely, during yesterday the Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dancila, announced that a new emergency ordinance is in the works to correct the effects produced by GEO 114/2018 on many companies in Romania, including RCS & RDS, and the telecom market.

RCS & RDS. From what it seems, GEO 114/2018 is going to be adopted, probably silently, by the Chamber of Deputies, as it happened in the Senate, and another emergency ordinance should correct what the companies don't like. The Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dancila, claims that following discussions with RCS & RDS, plus other telecom, banking and energy companies, another emergency ordinance will be issued with changes made based on the complaints of the companies.

RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Telekom, Orange, IMPORTANT CHANGE Announced

RCS & RDS. One of the most important changes is related to the telecom turnover tax, which can be reduced from 3% to 0.4%, in order to reduce the impact on companies in this segment. Another measure requested by RCS & RDS, and the other telecommunications companies, is the reduction of the threshold of 1 billion euros for 5G licenses, but here it is possible to reduce other commissions, without the amount being changed by the Ministry of Communications.

We will have discussions and in the next period we will come up with all the measures. So, we will not refer to the banks once, once we will... We will discuss with everyone and then we will make all the changes. (…) We are going with the idea of a single ordinance, because we cannot come up with one after another.

RCS & RDS. The announcement made yesterday by Viorica Dancila is the result of two months of constant pressure put by many Romanian companies on the Government, and it seems that in the end they will get what they want. It is not known to what extent all the grievances of those from RCS & RDS, or of other companies, will really be fulfilled, but it is quite clear that there is an interest in bringing things back to normal, so that the Romanians do not be affected even more by GEO 114/2018.

RCS & RDS. Although the Government said that the prices of services should not increase, Digi and other companies in the energy sector have already done so, so now things must be corrected somehow.
