UBER. The Romanian government announced through Prime Minister Viorica Dancila that next week it will issue an emergency ordinance regulating ridesharing services in Romania, with a series of important conditions. More precisely, the Romanian Government imposes a series of new conditions for UBER, Bolt, Clever Taxi drivers to allow them to offer ridesharing services, and this means that some of them will no longer be able to be part of the platform after its entry into force.
UBER. More precisely, according to the emergency ordinance, the drivers who will be active in the ridesharing platforms will have to have a professional certificate for the transport of people, which will be issued by the ARR. This provision will remove many of the drivers from the UBER and Bolt platforms, and this is because, apart from taxi drivers, no one else had such an attestation, because it is not necessary for an ordinary driver.
UBER. The Government Imposes NEW CONDITIONS for Drivers
UBER. It is also mandatory for the car to take out an insurance that covers the people in the car, and their belongings, and the cars must have the ITP done once every 6 months. These two provisions are identical to those that licensed taxi drivers must also comply with, and from my point of view they are very good, because many cars from UBER, Bolt, are not exactly new, so the more frequent checks are good omen
Taking into account the new trends and practices in the taxi and chauffeured transport market, respectively the technological development, especially of applications that work through smart mobile phones, has led to the emergence of new transport services that allow the more efficient use of the already existing cars, which, although they are used by approximately 1 million people in Romania, do not benefit from a strictly regulated framework, unlike other countries in the European Union.
UBER. The cars will also have to have special badges stuck on them, and this will of course make discovery much easier, both for attacks by taxi drivers and for police checks. The conditions imposed by the Romanian Government for UBER, Bolt, Clever Taxi, could keep away some of the drivers who are no longer active in the platforms, so it remains to be seen what kind of future the services will have in Romania.
UBER. In the last week, half of the drivers of this platform, as well as of Bolt, or Clever Taxi, disappeared, the prices increased by more than 2 times, while the waiting times increased by more than 4 times.
